FNAR 329. Pottery II

Prerequisite: FNAR 119 and 229.

Spring

This course will provide intermediate students with a

series of wheel-forming assignments to advance the basic

skills learned in Pottery I. The assignments will be aimed

at improving control, making larger and more complex

pieces than before, and making uniform sets of objects,

with associated concerns of functionality and aesthetics.

The emphasis will be on practice and on the production of

a set range of objects, but students will also be exposed

to the historical background of pottery making and to

works from various cultures from antiquity to the present,

from which they can draw ideas and inspiration for their

own work. The student must purchase all personal and

expendable art material.
